What's the best way to get (and keep) healthy hair?

I know nutrition is a big factor, but also - if you have any other tips they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance :)What's the best way to get (and keep) healthy hair?
having gone through an all girl highschool, 4 things I wish alot of these girls knew to maintain healthy pretty hair:

1. dont straighten/curl/blowdry your hair everyday..those styling tools wreak havok!

2. dont put your hair in a ponytail everyday. the part of the hair where the tie is gets weak and brittle.

3. Good shampoo and conditioner, its definitely worth the investment.

4. and yikes, dont color your hair every 2-3 months, it strips natural oils and barriers in the hair, so the color will stay. What's the best way to get (and keep) healthy hair?
do not wash hair everyday - this is important. it dries out your hair, and therefore your hair produces a lot more unneccessary oil. every second day is good.

also vitamin E is important - it also helps maintain skin nails etc.

avoid brushing your hair while its wet, your hair stretches when it is wet - this makes your hair weaker.

avoid hairdriers - they dry out your hair also and make your scalp dry, therefore you may develop dandruff later on.

when you wash your hair, wash the roots thoroughly - this is even more important than washing the ends thoroughly.

once in a while, trim your hair , about 1cm. this eliminates split ends, which has the potential to cause heaps of damage to your hair.

also, don`t apply too many artificial hair products! (such as sprays, gels)
always use a conditioner and use a shampoo that does not dry ur hair out use oils that are 100% natural. make sure ur hair products contains vitamin e and protein
You shouldn't wash your hair everyday because it will dry out your hair. I wash my hair every other day, but condition every day.
Don't wash it every day (the more you wash it the greasier it gets)

Only shampoo your scalp, and condition from your ears down.

Don't brush it when it's wet (it's weakest then)

Trim off split ends (you can trim individual ones when you find them - use the sharpest scissors you can find)

Don't use a hairdryer or heat straightener.

Don't bleach your hair, or use hair dyes with ammonia.
