What are some of the best tips to achieve and keep healthy hair?

Note: hair isn't alive, so it can't be ';healthy';. the following advice is purely for the look of your hair.

1.Don't shampoo too often. At most, 2-3 times a week. It's not gross, we've been brainwashed that if we don't wash our hair everyday something's wrong. Instead, washing everyday strips your hair of its natural oil, leaving it prone to dryness, frizziness, and breaking off.

2. Use hair oil! Don't use a conditioner. Many of them leave a silicone coating over your hair or wax, which gives a false shine, but leaves your hair with gummy, sticky buildup. I recommend Dabur Jasmine hair oil. Just apply to hair for an hour to overnight and wash out with moisturizing shampoo.

3. Don't use heat! Resist the temptation to quickly blow dry your hair. Stay away from those straighteners and curlers. They dry out your hair and cause split ends. Some really hot tools like heated combs (for afro hair) can melt your hair! If you really have to use them, put on a protective serum first.

4. No chemicals! Try not to dye, perm, or relax your hair. All of them, especially perms and relaxers, dry out your hair and the perms %26amp; relaxers upset the pH in your hair.

5. Don't brush frequently. Use a comb instead, if your hair is thick or curly, a wide tooth comb. Combs detangle, brushes pull out hair that wasn't ready to come out yet.

6. Cut off split ends! No matter how much you want to make your hair long, splits will split all the way up your hair eventually, a half a hair is a lot weaker than a whole hair. They will break!

_However, contrary to popular belief, trimming does NOT make hair grow faster. Hair grows from the roots, not the ends, so they don't affect the rate of growth. What are some of the best tips to achieve and keep healthy hair?
First find a really good Shampoo and conditioner, I use Pantene Pro-v for women of color, which makes my hair really soft. Also, put your hair in braids or wrap it up after you wash it to keep the moisture in while it dries. don't straighten your hair very much either....maybe once every two weeks at the most and use a creme that will protect your hair from the heat of straightening when you do..My hair is pretty long but I wear fake ponytails sometimes just to keep from frying my ends....Use a deep conditioner for your ends and trim them on a regular bases....I trim my hair like every three weeks...yes that is kind of a lot! but when you trim regularly your hair starts growing a lot faster. The key to beautiful hair is healthy ends!! What are some of the best tips to achieve and keep healthy hair?
buy a protein treatment in stores and use it when the bottle says to (mine says weekly) also use a deep conditioner once a week and dont use a flat iron everyday. Thats what i do and my hair is really healthy
u gotta use different products and see which one suits u best, i think u need to understand your hair type and so on.
Use the same products...dont change alot...dont use too much because it will damage it.
